A receptacle found to have a bootleg ground, also known as a false ground is a hazard. We recommend further/more invasive evaluation by an electrician to help determine proper corrections where needed. Until this condition is fully evaluated you should assume that outlets throughout the home are not properly grounded. If you are not aware of how to properly/safely remove cover plates and pull out outlets we do not recommend you attempt it.
